Beijing Forum-PKU Global Health Development Forum 2022

On December 22, 2022, the Peking University Global Health and Development Forum 2022 was held with the main theme of Digital Transformation and Development Divides. Co-organized by the Beijing Forum, Asian Development Bank and PKU Institute for Global Health and Development, this Forum brought together world leading scholars, policy researchers and industry leaders from both China and international communities to share their insights and recommendations on the thematic topics, attracted over 10 thousands online viewers participated in the event.

The Forum opened up by Professor Gordon G. Liu, Distinguished Professor of PKU National School of Development and Dean of Institute for Global Health and Development, with Peking University welcome messages delivered by Professor QIAO Jie, Executive Vice President of Peking University, Director of Peking University Health Science Center, and a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering. 

Also joined Professor Qiao in the Opening address were distinguished thought leaders HAN Qide, Vice Chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, Honorary President of China Association for Science and Technology, Co-Chair of the Advisory Council of the Institute for Global Health and Development; ZENG Yixin, Vice Minister of the Chinese National Health Commission; Victor Dzau, President of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine; WANG Chen, President of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Mark McClellan, Robert J. Margolis Professor of Duke University, former U.S. FDA Commissioner; M. Teresa Kho, Director General of the East Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank; BI Jingquan, Deputy Director of the Committee for Economic Affairs of the 13th CPPCC National Committee of the CPPCC and Executive Vice Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchange.

Following the Opening Session, the Forum was rolled out in three thematic sessions focusing on specific topics of "Digital Transformation of Health", "Digital Health and Development Gap" and "Global Health and Health Diplomacy". Each session was conducted with world leading scholars and field authorities for keynote presentations, followed by a panel of experts for discussions. The keynote speakers are as follows:

Professor ZHANG Haibin made a closing remark on behalf of the Forum organizers. He described the Forum as having a "high standard" of vision, a "high degree" of academic effect, and "high quality" conversation topics. He stressed international cooperation to advance the worldwide transformation of medical and health digitization and urged for a peaceful and mutually beneficial world. He fully recognized the significant worth of global digital transformation in global health governance. Together all look forward to the next forum for greater height and for more lively communications in person in 2023.
