Professor FENG Si-Shen is a pioneer and founding author in the new emerging areas of Chemotherapeutic Engineering, Cancer Nanotechnology, and Nanomedicine. For the first time in the world , he solved the four basic problems in these three areas,  i.e. the feasibility, effectiveness, safty issue and the best design.

Professor Feng graduated with 6 Year Diploma from Peking University. He got his Master of Engineering from Tsinghau University under guidance of Professor Weizang Chien and then his PhD from Columbia University under guidance of Professors Shu Chien and Rechard Skalak. He completed his postdoctoral training in School of Physicians & Surgoens, Columbia University. He worked as research scientist in Department of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Northwestern University. He joined National University of Singapore (NUS) in Oct 1996. He also held joint appointment in Department of Biomedical Engineering of NUS and National Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE). His research interests include design of chemical vesseles, viscoelastic fluid mechanics, cellular & molecular biomechanics, molecular biomaterials, tissue engineering, chemotherapeutic engineering, cancer nanotechnology, pharmaceutical nanotechnology and nanomedicine.

Professor FENG Si-Shen is an Associated Editor of Future Science’s journal,  Nanomedicine (2022 impact factor 6.096). He used to be an Associate Editor of  Biomaterials (2022 impact factor 15,304, CiteScore 21.5) for 8 years of 2007-2014. He is involved in the editorial board of another two major journals in nanomedicine,  i.e.  Nanomedicine - Nanotechnology, Biology & Medicine  ( Nanomedicine NBM ， 2022 impact factor 6.458,) and  International Journal of Nanomedicine  (2019 impact factor 7.033).  As of 20 Dec 2022, Professor FENG Si-Shen has published 166 SCI articles, which have attracted 15,581 cites, resulting in 93.86 cites per article and h-Index 67. His Google Scholar citations have reached 23,045 with h-Index 78.  For the past 24 years of 1996-2019, he had been ranked No 1 by the Web of Science (WOS) Author Analysis in the three emerging areas of Nanomedicine, Cancer nanotechnology and Pharmaceutical nanotechnology.

Prof FENG Si-Shen was an advisor and/or visiting professor of quite a few Chinese major universities including Tsinghua University, Nankai University Pharmacy School, Shandong University, and Huazhong University of Science & Technology.  He has had a spin-off company, Suzhou NanoStar BioPharm Inc Ltd, at Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), which is developing two nanomedicine products,  NanoTaxanes (with one shot effective for 360 hours) and  OralTaxanes (with 91.3% oral bioavailability). Prof FENG Si-Shen was appointed as Chair Professor in the Second Military Medical University 2014 and as Overseas Famous Professor in Tsinghua University 2017.
