Lyu Beini

Assistant professor, Institute for Global Health and Development

Research Field: pharmacoepidemiology, clinical epidemiology, pharmacoequity, international comparison of medication utilization, big data in medicine

Beini Lyu, MD, PhD, is currently an assistant professor at Peking University Institute for Global Health and Development. She is interested in pharmacoepidemiology and clinical epidemiology of chronic diseases. Her work integrates real-world data from various sources and multiple countries with causal inference study design. Her research has been focused on 1) the effectiveness and safety of medications for chronic diseases, 2) comparison of glucose-lowering medications across countries, and 3) socioeconomic status and obesity medication use. Dr. Lyu’s work has been published in leading medical journals such as the Lancet Regional Health-Americas, Diabetes Care, and American Journal of Kidney Diseases. She served as PI of a micro research grant from American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology (ASDIN) and co-investigator of several grants from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). She has served as a reviewer for Diabetes Care, Journal of American Society of Nephrology and other journals. She has received Donn D 'Alessio Outstanding Student Award from the Department of Population Health at the University of Wisconsin (2021), American Heart Association Student Research Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease (2020), and the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Student Abroad. Dr. Lyu received her M.D. from Peking University in 2016 and her Ph.D. in epidemiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2021.
