Cui Zhihan is an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Global Health and Development, Peking University. He graduated from Peking University in 2015 with a bachelor's degree and received his Ph.D. in Sustainable Development from the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs in 2021. Prior to joining Peking University, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Behavioral Decision Making Department at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. His main research areas are health economics, behavioral economics, health psychology. and medical artificial intelligence. His research interests include health behavior and decision-making, health literacy and behavior improvement, healthcare policy and mental health. His research has been published in leading international journals such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Health Psychology, Journal of Medical Internet Research, and Economic Letters. His work combines perspectives from economics, psychology, and public health, with a special feature in using randomized controlled experiments and applied econometric methods to innovatively study biases in people's health behaviors and decision-making, and to explore effective improvement strategies. From 2026 to 2028, he is leading the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Youth Project (Category C) "How Does AI-assisted Diagnosis and Treatment Impact Patient Experience: Measurement, Mechanism and Evaluation." He is also participating in the NSFC Key Project "The General Equilibrium Analysis of China's Healthcare System: Theoretical Modeling, Structural Estimation, and Optimal Policy Design."
