HUANG Yangmu

Research Professor, Institute for Global Health and Development and School of Public Health

Research Field: Pharmaceutical R&D and global health, global health security, nutrition and food safety, public health preparedness and response

Dr. Yangmu Huang is the Deputy Director, Research Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor at the Department of Global Health, School of Public Health, Peking University. She earned her PhD in Nutrition and Food Safety from the School of Public Health and did two years' post-doctoral research in the School of Pharmaceutical Science at Peking University. With a multidisciplinary background, she mainly focuses on the cross-study of pharmaceutical R&D and global health, intending to improve the accessibility and availability of medical products to disadvantaged groups. She has hosted and participated in several international- and national-level research projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the UK DFID Global Health Support Programme. She has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and taught multiple courses related to global health.

Dr. Huang currently serves as the deputy secretary-general of the Public Health and Preventive Medicine Branch of the China International Exchange and Promotive Association, the deputy secretary-general of the Beijing International Medical Exchange Association; the council member of the Public Health Branch of the Chinese Medical Rescue Association, the Public Health Emergency Work Committee of the Chinese Society of Emergency Management as well as the Chinese Research Hospital Association.

As the senior consultant of China’s Delegation, she has been invited to attend the World Health Assembly and the Executive Board of the World Health Organization every year. She has also provided technical consultation to the National Health Commission, the World Health Organizations and other United Nations organizations. Due to her contribution and achievements, she was nominated by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and selected as the “Health Young Physician Leaders” in 2019 by the International Academy Partnership.
